    Membership dues automatically include participation in your state chapter—including local networking opportunities, conferences, workshops, newsletters, and more!

  • American String Teacher Journal

    Our award-winning, peer-reviewed, quarterly journal keeps you up-to-date on the string profession with feature articles, teaching tips, music reviews, and industry news. Delivered as print copies and available to access online for all members.

    ASTA offers professional development programs for string educators, including professional development hours and college credit for attending the ASTA National Conference and Virtual Summit.

  • Insurance Programs

  • String Research Journal

    This peer-reviewed journal includes research relevant to string settings—from early childhood study to the advanced private studio and string ensembles. Members receive online access as well as a discount on printed copies.

  • Career Center

    String-related job opportunities are posted on ASTA's Career Center on a continuing basis, providing members with a current list of opportunities in the profession.

  • National Orchestra Festival

    Members and their students are eligible to compete in the ASTA National Orchestra Festival, a great opportunity for middle and high school orchestras to gain performance experience and recognition at a national level, learn, and have fun.

  • Certificate Advancement Program (ASTACAP)

    ASTACAP seeks to establish definite goals and awards for students of all levels through non-competitive examinations. Students of ASTA members are judged on technical and musical preparedness at specific levels by an examiner of musical and pedagogical statute.
