“ASTA has changed my life! I truly believe I owe a big part of my success and joy in teaching to what I have learned through ASTA.”
- Michelle Wilkinson-Nelson, Prairieville, Indiana
We believe playing a stringed instrument can change a life. Founded in 1946, the American String Teachers Association exists to support string and orchestra teachers and players. Our members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. We provide teaching resources, professional education, local and national events, a career center, insurance programs, and access to a vibrant and collaborative strings community.
ASTA actively seeks members who want to make a difference in the strings community!
Our History
The American String Teachers Association was founded by a group of nineteen string teachers in 1946, and has since grown to encompass more than 6,000 active members.
