2025 Presidential Award for Outstanding Service

Judy Palac


Judy Palac is Associate Professor Emeritus of Music Education--Strings and founder of the Musicians’ Wellness Team at Michigan State University. She was president of the Michigan chapter of ASTA from 1998-2000, and was named Michigan ASTA Teacher of the Year in 2001. Judy has served national ASTA in many capacities, including board member-at-large and publications chair. She initiated the String Player Health and Wellness Committee. She is published in such journals as American String Teacher, Medical Problems of Performing Artists, and Bulletin for the Council for Research in Music Education. She regularly presents on wellness and string teaching at international conferences both educational and medical. Judy is also a Licensed Educator and Training Mentor for the Association for Body Mapping Education. In 2021, she was invited to be lead co-editor for The Oxford Handbook of Musician Health Advocacy, to be released in early 2026.
