2025 ASTA National Leadership Call for Nominations

We are seeking nominations for individuals qualified to serve in national leadership positions on the ASTA Board of Directors and ASTA Conference and National Orchestra Festival Committees. Any ASTA member may nominate a colleague or self-nominate for any position.


Board of Directors

ASTA is currently seeking one Member-at-Large representing studio teachers, all levels and one Member-at-Large representing K-12 orchestra teachers. These two Members-at-Large will serve a two-year term from 2025-2027.


Conference and National Orchestra Festival Committees

ASTA is seeking candidates who will serve as committee Vice-Chairs for the 2025-2027 term before stepping into the role of Chair for the 2027-2029 term, in all a four year term.

Nominations Due: September 30, 2024

Nomination forms below cover all three positions. Nominators will be asked to provide contact information (first name, last name, email address) for themself and the individual they are nominating.

Nominees will be asked to answer the following questions:

  • How long have you been teaching?
  • List of ASTA activities and leadership positions (state, local, national) held in the previous 10 years. (100 words or less)
  • Briefly describe your teaching setting in 25 words or less (e.g., suburban area studio teacher specializing in beginning violin and viola students with private and group instruction)
  • What compels you to serve in this capacity at this time? Do you have any specific goals you have that will help the board and ASTA realize the strategic plan?  (200 words or less)
  • Briefly describe your activities and leadership positions outside of ASTA (state, local, national) held in the previous 10 years (75 words or less?)
  • What is your approach to understanding the perspectives of colleagues, students, and volunteers from different and diverse backgrounds? What were the outcomes from your approach and learning? (200 words or less)
  • Please provide a brief description of why you are a good candidate for the selected position. Please include what strengths you will bring to the selected position (specialization, understanding of specific groups of members, ability to think deeply and communication professionally, etc.).  (200 words or less)
