2026 ASTA National Leadership Call for Nominations

We are seeking nominations for individuals qualified to serve in national leadership positions on the ASTA Board of Directors. Any ASTA member may nominate a colleague or self-nominate for any position.


Member-at-Large

ASTA is seeking candidates for one Member-at-Large position representing studio teachers (at all levels) to serve a two-year term from 2026-2028.


Secretary

ASTA is seeking candidates to serve as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for a two-year term from 2026-2028.


President-Elect

ASTA is seeking candidates to serve a six-year commitment as a national leader of ASTA, serving a two-year term as President-Elect in 2026-2028, followed by two-year terms as President and Immediate Past President/Treasurer.

Nominations Due: September 15, 2025

Nomination forms below cover all three positions. Nominators will be asked to provide contact information (first name, last name, email address) for themself and the individual they are nominating.

Nominees will be asked to answer the following questions:

  • How long have you been teaching and/or performing?
  • Briefly describe your teaching setting in 25 words or less (e.g., suburban area studio teacher specializing in beginning violin and viola students with private and group instruction)
  • Highlight ASTA activities you have participated in (e.g., conference attendee, session presenter, presider, ASTACAP adjudicator) (100 words or less)
  • Highlight leadership positions in ASTA and/or other organizations (state, local, national, e.g., committee member, ASTACAP chair) held in the previous 10 years (100 words or less)
  • Why are you interested in serving on the ASTA Board at this time? (200 words or less)
  • How will you contribute to ASTA’s role in building and growing string education? (200 words or less)
  • Do you have specific goals and/or ideas to help the board and ASTA realize the strategic plan? (200 words or less)
  • Describe your approach to relating to colleagues, students, and volunteers with different viewpoints from your own. (200 words or less)
  • Please include what strengths you will bring to the selected position (specialization, understanding of specific groups of members, ability to think deeply and communicate professionally, etc.). (200 words or less)
  • Please share anything else you would like the Nominating Committee to consider about your candidacy. (200 words or less)

Additionally, nominees will be asked to upload a current resume or CV.


President-elect candidates will be asked an additional question:

  • Describe your experience and understanding of non-profit financial statements and budgeting. (200 words or less)
