Mini-Jams

Mini-Jams, hosted by the Eclectic Styles Committee, are a fully-immersive mini-jam session to inspire participation in the Thursday afternoon and Friday evening Jam Sessions. Each mini-session generally focuses on one style of music and every session is facilitated by cultural insiders. More information to come!
Jam Sessions
Come learn, play, and connect at the Jam Sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday night! For beginners through advanced, clinicians will provide instruction and guidance for everyone!
There will be a limited number of instruments to borrow for each Jam Session, but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well! These instruments must remain in this room.

Martha Mooke is a Grammy Award-winning, pioneering electric violist/composer, highly regarded for her artistry, music advocacy, and innovative educational programs. Founder and Artistic Director of the Scorchio Quartet, Mooke and Scorchio are featured on David Bowie's Heathen, Trey Anastasio's Live From Princeton and Carla Patullo's Grammy winning album, So She Howls. Mooke is featured on Laurie Anderson's recent Nonesuch release, Amelia. Mooke, a longtime Yamaha Artist, created and directs the cutting edge, Multi-Style Strings program at New Jersey City University.

A graduate of Northwestern and Yale, violinist Duane Padilla began his career with the National Repertoire Orchestra, Tanglewood, New Haven Symphony, and Honolulu Symphony. His Gemini Duo reached the semifinals of the Concert Artists Guild Competition. Transitioning into jazz, he co-founded The Hot Club of Hulaville, earning Hawaii’s Jazz Album of the Year. His solo album Sentimental Swing gained international acclaim, and his Mana Music Quartet recording won Hawaii’s 2021 Instrumental Album of the Year. Duane currently serves on the faculty at Punahou Music School, where he teaches private violin and viola lessons, as well as songwriting, music production, and improvisation.

“Harmony Within: An Introduction to Reiki and Sound Healing”
This session will offer a gentle exploration of two powerful holistic practices that promote balance and well-being, the foundational principles of Reiki and sound healing. You will explore how energy and vibration can support physical, emotional, and spiritual health and gain insight into how these complementary therapies work and can be integrated into daily life for inner harmony and healing.
