ASTA is Updating Its Bylaws!
As part of the 2025 Annual Meeting, hosted at the ASTA National Conference on Saturday, March 22, you'll vote on ASTA’s revised bylaws. These updates, last revised in March 2022, reflect legal compliance, association best practices, and input from committees that better reflect the way ASTA intends to operate.
Key Changes:
- Renames "Senior" members to "Emeritus," updating the age requirement from 62 to 65 (supported by the Emeritus Committee).
- Clarifies the President's authority to appoint directors-at-large to enhance overall board diversity.
- Clarifies and streamlines financial practices, allowing the executive director or staff to sign checks and contracts under financial policies.
- Allows the Board of Directors to correct defective corporate actions, such as errors in votes or incorrect governance processes.
- Adopts inclusive language throughout.
