Joseph Conyers


Citizen musician, entrepreneur, and youth advocate Joseph Conyers - Principal Double Bass of The Philadelphia Orchestra – is a highly acclaimed, multi-faceted artist whose innovative work in music education has been recognized globally. A Sphinx Organization Laureate and double bass faculty at The Juilliard School, Joseph is a founder of Project 440 – an organization that uses music as the lens to help young people develop the life skills needed for success. He is the Music Director of Philadelphia’s All-City Orchestra and co-host of the podcast, Tacet No More.

About the Award


The Artist Teacher Award is awarded annually by the ASTA National Board of Directors to a pedagogue of renowned stature from North America.
