ASTA is sponsoring a research poster session at the 2023 ASTA National Conference, March 15-18 in Orlando, Florida. We will consider research projects conducted by university faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, private lesson teachers, and teachers in public or private schools. The poster session is open to reports of research involving any aspect of string playing and teaching, including those that are philosophical, theoretical, or historical in nature, as well as reports that are qualitative or quantitative in design.
Submissions may take the form of a full paper or an abstract of 500 words that outlines the procedures and results of the research. Submissions should not have been published prior to the conference and must meet the Research Publication/Presentation Code of Ethics
. Papers presented at other conferences will be considered for poster presentation if the audience was substantially different (e.g., a state meeting or a university symposium). A statement specifying particulars of any earlier presentation must be included with the submission. You must be a member of the American String Teachers Association (at time of submission and at time of presentation). Because these submissions are reviewed in a blind peer-review process, please do not include your name or any identifying markings anywhere in the paper and abstract you are submitting.
Research poster proposals must be submitted electronically and will be accepted until 11:59 pm PDT October 17, 2022
. No late submissions will be accepted.
Notifications will be sent electronically in December 2022.
If accepted, the primary or a listed co-author must register for and attend the 2023 ASTA National Conference to present the poster. Presenters will be expected to bring 25 copies of their abstract to the session.
