Getting The Most Out of My Middle and High School Ensembles. This session, featuring four of the country’s leading string educators and conductors, will focus on practical skills and knowledge for making immediate improvements in your middle and high school string ensembles. The second half of the session will focus on practical skills needed by the middle-school and high-school teacher, in addition to strategies and techniques for making your rehearsals more efficient, getting the most out of your musicians, and student motivation. Both parts of the pre-con are hands-on, so bring your instrument (and your baton) and be prepared for an incredible day of learning! See Education Page for full description. **CANCELLED** Teaching strings is something that any musician can do if they are willing to learn the fundamentals of string instruments. This boot camp will provide an overview of the skills needed to teach orchestra effectively in a heterogeneous setting. Topics presented will include: Instrument set up; Body Posture and Instrument Positions; Left and Right Hand Positions; Class Start Ups ; Basic and Intermediate Bowing techniques; Beginning Shifting concepts Presenters will demonstrate several approaches to each learning task. This five hour session will help ASTA State Chapter leaders learn more about effectively leading their chapter, as well as provide an opportunity to network with other state leaders. Sometimes however the transfer of performance skills, independence, musicianship, and professionalism is not always “as easy as it looks.” As a participant in this 5-hour interactive session, you will examine the best of what you do as a performer, and explore approaches to teach effectively at any level, develop vital relationships with students and colleagues, and ways to inspire and prepare students for life-long music making. Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be received in writing by February 5, 2018. No refunds will be given on requests after this date. NO EXCEPTIONS. There is a $75 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be processed until after the conference.

Registration Information & Options
Full Conference Registration includes the newcomer’s reception, opening reception, all conference sessions and feature performances March 7-10.
***Deep Dive Workshops require an additional fee and are not included in full conference fee.***

Single day registration includes all sessions and performances for the day you are registered (available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday only)

Consider adding a pre-conference workshop to your registration! **Each of these pre-conference workshops requires a separate fee.

Attendees may register by credit cards or check. All fees are in U.S. dollars. If you are an issuing a check from outside the U.S. the check must be bank-issued in U.S. Funds (not handwritten).

Payments are typically processed within 10 business days. Payments that are not received and/or post-marked by the registration deadlines will be subject to additional fees. ASTA is not responsible for delayed mail or incorrectly addressed correspondence.  
Purchase Order:  Purchase orders must be paid by February 1 or balance collected at the conference

If you provide payment and require a charge to be reversed to use another form of payment, you will be charged a $50 administrative fee. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by
February 5, 2018. ASTA will refund the fee less a $75 administrative fee for any cancellations. No refunds will be made after February 5, 2018.

Registration and attendance at or participation in the ASTA National conference constitutes an agreement by the attendee to ASTA's use and distribution of the registrant or attendee image or voice in video or photographs.

ASTA will communicate important information leading up to the conference by email including badge information, handouts being posted online and travel information.
