Music by Black Composers: A Treasure Trove for Expanding Your Repertoire

A group of renowned performers and educators will lead a tour through classical music by composers of African descent for violin, viola, cello, and string ensemble. The works range from elementary and intermediate level to pieces appropriate for college students. African-American students will be inspired by the repertoire and history and will develop a stronger connection to string playing. This inspiring and exciting music will expand the horizons of students of all races and ethnicities. The composers are men and women from the 18th-21st Centuries, from North and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
