Description
The Best of Bunting: Exercises for Every Cellist

This session will present an overview of the exercises developed by 20th-cenutry British cellist and pedagogue Christopher Bunting.  Bunting's 250-page "Essay on the Craft of Cello Playing" presents highly effective (and sometimes unusual) exercises that address left-hand strength, finger independence, right-hand flexibility, bow speed control, vibrato, thumb position, and other critical techniques.  An overview of Bunting's pedagogical philosophy will be discussed, with demonstrations of exercises that can benefit cello students at any level.  Participants with cellos are encouraged to try out the exercises during the session.
