Teaching in the Psychomotor Domain

Playing a stringed instrument requires the development of complex movement sequences that constantly vary according to musical demands--changing dynamic level, vibrato, shifting to higher positions, etc. Students with inconsistent or incorrect fundamental movements will find it difficult to progress beyond the intermediate level without appropriate interventions and instruction from their teachers. In this session we will analyze and break them down into component basic skills, then use Dave's Taxonomy of the Psychomotor Domain to build  progressive learning experiences toward those skills. With ideas from Rolland, Havas, and others, explore paths from beginner to advanced technique. Bring your instruments!
