2022 Hybrid ASTA National Conference
COVID Safety and Mitigation Protocols in Atlanta
ASTA is committed to creating the safest conference experience possible for all members, attendees, students, performers, and staff on-site at the 2022 ASTA National Conference and the 2022 ASTA National Orchestra Festival, held March 16-19, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia.
In order to maintain the health and well-being of all participants at these events, ASTA is implementing the following procedures. These procedures may be revised between their release and the time of the in-person events based on updates from the CDC regarding the COVID-19 pandemic or based on any further legal requirements in the State of Georgia. We will provide updates to all registered attendees if these guidelines change, and will also post them on our conference website
. We recommend that attendees watch for these updates.
Attendees that do not feel well are strongly encouraged not to attend the in-person events in Atlanta. You can learn more about the virtual portion of the conference, available the following week, here
Masks will be required for all indoor activities, including the in-person ASTA National Conference and National Orchestra Festival events. If you do not have a mask, we will have some extra masks on hand.
Vaccination or Negative PCR COVID-19 Test Result 72 Hours Prior to Conference
ASTA will require that attendees at the 2022 ASTA National Conference and National Orchestra Festival provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative PCR COVID-19 test result no more than 72-hours prior to conference, before they will be permitted to attend the in-person event in Atlanta.
ASTA will require all Atlanta attendees to complete a validation process to confirm a COVID-19 vaccine or negative test result. The validation process must be complete prior to badges being mailed out to attendees or to attendees picking up their badges in the registration area of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.
The validation process will take less than five minutes, and you will need to have your driver’s license or other ID, test result or your vaccine card ready to scan to complete the process. Beginning in January 2022 and once you have registered for the conference, you can access the conference site to begin the validation process. Please note that the validation portal is not yet open; we will alert attendees when it opens
Once you have completed the process, you will receive a confirmation. This confirmation will be required prior to picking up your badge. For those who complete the process ahead of February 22, your badge will be mailed out to you. For those completing the process after February 22, your badge will be available to you at the conference site, and we will ask for you to share your confirmation with us prior to picking up your badge.
ASTA will not have access to or keep records of your personal information. The system will only let us know that you have completed the validation process.

Greeting Other Attendees
We will include ribbons in the registration area for attendees to indicate their comfort with social distance, elbow bumps, head nods, or hugs. If an attendee does not have a ribbon on that indicates their comfort level, we request that all attendees ask each other before shaking hands or hugging.
Hand Sanitization Stations
Hand sanitization stations will be located throughout the meeting space.
Socially Distanced General and Education Session Rooms
Education rooms will be set with 3 feet in between all theater seating and with 6 chairs at each round table.
ACH rates will be 6 ACH (air exchanges) per hour for each session room; rooms where performances are occurring will be at 8 ACH. This exceeds the recommendations from the International Performing Arts Aerosol Study.
If you are not feeling well on site in Atlanta, please do not enter the conference area. ASTA will provide instructions for where you can find nearby COVID-19 testing.
